LGBTI rights activist on trial

Court action is scheduled to resume today (June 18) in the case against Sam Ganafa, executive director of the LGBT rights group Spectrum Uganda, who wasarrested with three colleagues in November 2013 on charges of “unnatural offenses.”

Ganafa’s home served as the office for Spectrum for past eight years. He served as board chair for the Sexual Minorities Uganda coalition. He was released on bail after two weeks in prison.

Today’s session is the fifth hearing in the case, Spectrum Uganda noted.
