Off my busiest schedule here in Europe i thought i must answer or correct some homophobic online responses and threats from several Ugandan citizens.
Gay Rights are indeed human rights and it is the prime reason why i work tirelessly to defend them. In countries like Uganda, there is no recognition for the rights of gays and hence, we need to demand a change.

Criminalization of individuals due to their sexual orientation contradicts with the Universial Declaration of Human Rights to which we are signatories.
It should be understood that fundamental rights are God given and not granted by the State, The Ugandan Constitution of 1995 emphasizes that ”all Ugandans are equal before and under the law” The constitution also promises us all protection from discrimination on grounds of sex, race, colour, ethnic origin, tribe, birth, creed or religion. Above all, every Ugandan is mandated to protect and defend this constitution. It is hence unfair to discriminate against or legislate with intention to supress the gay Ugandan minority.
Our constitution provides protection to life and liberty and declares that “no person shall be deprived of life intentionally except in an execution of a criminal offence under the laws of Uganda” Also “no person shall be deprived of personal liberty, and no person shall be subjected to any form of tourture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”
Therefore, the difference between Gay rights and Human Rights is either very slim or undetectable. I do not endorse the views of heartless homophobic Ugandans who seem to reason that certain Ugandans are in receipt of foreign funds to change their lifesyles.
Our culture too must respect privacy and refrain from accusing persons on the basis of what they do in their bedrooms.
